Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran said the transition from petrol/diesel to electric mobility will happen faster than expected in India. He was speaking at the launch of the Tata Motors pavilion at the 2023 Auto Expo, which kicks off this weekend in the National Capital Region.

Tata Motors announced the launch of a total of 14 new vehicles at the Auto Expo, ranging from commercial buses, pickup trucks and tippers.

More importantly, almost all the new models run on new-age technologies, ranging from hydrogen fuel cells to biofuel and CNG.

“I truly believe the transition to electric mobility will happen much faster than expected,” said the Tata Sons chairman, who was accompanied by the entire management of Tata Motors, both commercial and passenger divisions.

“Our goal is to achieve net zero (carbon emissions) by 2045. Tata Motors is driving this growth,” he reiterated, pointing out how the Tata group is engaged in three major transitions — energy, digital, and supply chain.

“All of this is driving growth for Tata as well as the Indian economy,“ Chandrasekaran said. “Our investments in this space will be considerable to accelerate the change, but will also give superior products to customers.”
