Amul milk products to be costlier in Gujarat and Delhi-NCR

The revised prices come into effect from Thursday

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk and milk products under the brand name Amul, has hiked the rates by Rs 2 per litre in Delhi-NCR as well as in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra in Gujarat. The revised prices come into effect from Thursday.

Amul Gold will now cost Rs 29 for a 500 ml pouch, Amul Shakti Rs 26, and AMUL Taaza Rs 23.

A company spokesperson said the operation costs have increased due to rise in costs of logistics, energy and packaging. The price given to the farmers has been increased from Rs 45 to Rs 50 per kilogram of fat. The company said it is six per cent more than last year.

The company said it passes on almost 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers to the milk producers.

It said the price revision will help in sustaining remunerative milk prices to the milk producers and encourage them for higher milk production.
