Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Devnani inaugurates 'Nakshatra Vatika' 'Herbal Vatika'

Jaipur, May 5 (PTI) Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Tuesday inaugurated 'Nakshatra Vatika' (Celestial Garden) and 'Herbal Vatika' ( Herbal Garden) on the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly premises.
He described them as a blend of India's spiritual traditions, astrology, Ayurveda and environmental conservation.
The inauguration took place in the presence of assembly speakers from several states.
Devnani said the 'Nakshatra Vatika' has been developed based on the 27 constellations mentioned in traditional Indian Astrology, in which each constellation is associated with a specific tree.
The garden, spread over about 5,000 square metres in the southern part of the assembly complex, features trees linked to all 27 nakshatras.
He said the plants are also associated with nine planets, 12 zodiac signs and the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, reflecting traditional beliefs.
"The initiative represents India's knowledge traditions and promotes environmental awareness while encouraging people to connect with trees associated with their birth constellations," Devnani said.
The 'Herbal Vatika', developed over around 850 square metres in the north-western part of the complex, includes 38 species of medicinal plants arranged in designated plots. Each plot contains 20 to 25 plants of a single species.
The medicinal plants include rosemary, clove, peppermint, aloe vera, lemongrass, tulsi and brahmi, among others.
Devnani said that the gardens contribute to biodiversity conservation, preservation of medicinal plants and creation of a positive environment, while also serving as a means to familiarise future generations with the link between Indian culture, astrology and nature.
