Panaji, May 1 (PTI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has launched a statewide healthcare initiative- "Health with Ayurveda, Checked By Doctor 2.0"- aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare through Ayurveda-based interventions.
The programme was inaugurated at the Goa College of Ayurveda and Yogic Sciences in Harvalem in the presence of State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
Under the initiative, multi-speciality Ayurvedic health check-up camps will be organised across all 40 constituencies in the coastal state over the next 40 days, focusing on preventive healthcare and promoting traditional systems of medicine.
Addressing the gathering, Sawant said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to holistic healthcare and will help raise awareness about Ayurveda while ensuring accessible medical services for citizens.
Deputy Director (Ayush) Dr Minal Joshi said the camps have already commenced, with the first camp at Shakre witnessing a turnout of over 1,000 people. She said free Ayurvedic medicines are being distributed to beneficiaries.
Joshi added that the initiative aims to highlight the role of Ayurveda in managing lifestyle disorders and preventing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, stress and insomnia.
Several participants said they received consultations and medicines, along with guidance from doctors.
The state government has urged people to take advantage of the camps for early health screening and improved well-being.
