Boy's body recovered six days after he slipped into stream in Pulwama

Srinagar, May 1 (PTI) Body of a four-year-old boy, who had gone missing after slipping into a stream earlier this week in Pulwama district, was recovered near Shopian on Friday, officials said.
    Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief minister Omar Abdullah expressed shock and grief over the incident.
    Mohammad Hanzala, a resident of Tiken village, had accidentally slipped into the raging Rambiara stream and was swept away by strong currents near Dubjan Bridge on Sunday, they said, adding that a rescue operation was launched but the boy could not be traced.
    The body was recovered on the sixth day of the search operation in Shopian district, they said.
    "The tragic passing of young Mohammad Hanzala from Pulwama is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with grieving family during this time of immense pain. May his soul find everlasting peace, and may his loved ones be granted the strength & comfort they need to endure this profound loss," the LG said in a post on X.
    CM Abdullah said he was deeply shocked.
    "Deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of young Mohammed Hanzala from Tikken in Pulwama. As the search for the young boy stretched in to the sixth day hope was running out but it's still been a terrible shock when the unthinkable was confirmed," Abdullah said on X.
    "I join the tens of thousands of Kashmiris in grief at Hanzala's death. May Allah grant him highest place in Jannat and may his family find strength to bear this unimaginable loss," he said.
