UP DGP distributes Rs 41.6 crore aid to kin of deceased disabled police personnel

Lucknow, Apr 30 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna on Thursday distributed financial assistance worth Rs 41.60 crore to the families of 22 deceased police personnel and five disabled personnel under the Police Salary Package (PSP), officials said.
     According to a statement issued by the Uttar Pradesh Police, the assistance was provided in the form of cheques to a total of 27 beneficiaries under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank of Baroda.
     The DGP met the family members of the deceased personnel and the disabled policemen, inquiring about their well-being and assuring them of all possible support from the department, the statement said.
     Citing a recent case, the police said a constable posted with GRP Gonda, Akash Singh, lost both his legs after being hit by a train while trying to stop an accused from escaping on March 31. His family was provided financial assistance of Rs 1.5 crore under the PSP, it added.
