Rajasthan reels under intense heat Barmer hottest at 44.1 degrees Celsius

Jaipur, Apr 24 (PTI) Rajasthan continued to reel under intense heat conditions on Friday, with Barmer recording a maximum temperature of 44.1 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Department said.
     According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, Sri Ganganagar recorded 43.9 degrees Celsius, while Jaisalmer and Churu each registered 43.6 degrees.
     Bikaner recorded 43.5 degrees, Pilani 43.4 degrees and Jodhpur 43.0 degrees Celsius.
     Most parts of the state are experiencing maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
     The department said maximum temperatures are likely to rise further by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius in the coming days. Heatwave conditions are likely at isolated places in the western and north-eastern parts of the state over the next two to three days.
     During this period, temperatures in some north-western parts may reach 44 to 45 degrees Celsius.
     It also said under the influence of a weak western disturbance, dust storms accompanied by thunderclouds are likely in the border areas of western Rajasthan on April 25, and in western and northern parts between April 26 and 28.
     It said drizzle or light rain is also likely at isolated places during this period.
