Not served alcohol at wedding angry neighbours beat up bride groom and their kin at MP village

Gwalior, Apr 1 (PTI) Refusal to serve liquor at a wedding led to a dispute and triggered an assault on the bride and the groom along with their family members by a group of guests at a village in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh, a police officer said on Wednesday.
The officer said some members of the groom's family were injured in the incident that took place on Tuesday night in Patai village under the Aron police station area of the district.
They also alleged that the accused stole household items and money during the assault.
City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Manish Yadav told reporters that Patai village resident Mahesh Jatav was getting married when his neighbours demanded that they be served alcohol during the celebrations, which led to a dispute.
After the groom refused to make arrangement for alcohol at the wedding or pay for it, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation between the two sides.
Mahesh Jatav's mother Sheela told reporters that after the bride's arrival, some rituals were underway at home when a few neighbours arrived and began demanding money from her son for alcohol.
The neighbours beat up her family members when they were denied money to buy liquor, she said.
Sheela alleged that when she tried to intervene, the neighbours assaulted her, her husband, and Mahesh Jatav's bride.
CSP Yadav said the matter was under investigation.
