Fire breaks out in residential building in northwest Delhi no casualties

New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) A fire broke out on the third floor of a residential building in northwest Delhi’s Inderlok area on Tuesday afternoon, a fire official said. No casualties or injuries were reported.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a call at around 3:25 pm from the Shahzada Bagh industrial area, following which three fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Officials said a major tragedy was averted as the ground floor of the four-storey building housed a scrap unit with a moulding machine, but the fire did not spread to it.
“A bigger tragedy was averted as the fire remained confined to the upper floor,” the official said, adding that domestic articles were damaged.
The top floor, where the fire started, was locked at the time of the incident. The lower floors were also unoccupied as tenants had reportedly gone out for work, the official said.
Firefighters brought the fire under control after it spread to the upper floor, and cooling operations were underway.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, though a short circuit is suspected, officials added.
