Cyclist Asha Malviya felicitated in Jharkhand's Ramgarh


    Ramgarh (Jharkhand), Mar 29 (PTI) Asha Malviya, a national-level athlete, mountaineer, and solo cyclist undertaking a 7,800 km west-to-east cycling expedition promoting women's empowerment, was felicitated in Jharkhand's Ramgarh on Sunday.
    She arrived here after successfully covering a distance of nearly 5,100 km across multiple states, a senior police officer said.
    "We felt immense privilege to meet and welcome Asha Malviya, a noted national-level athlete and mountaineer who reached Ramgarh after successfully covering 5,100 km across several states on her bicycle," Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar said.
    The SP said her expedition reflects courage, determination and an unyielding spirit that will inspire many others.
    She has achieved several milestones and has also furled the national flag on peaks such as B C Roy (20,500 ft) and Tenjing (18,500 ft).
    The ongoing solo bicycle expedition commenced on January 11 this year, on the eve of Indian Army Day, from Jaipur in Rajasthan.
    Asha, hailing from a small village in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, will continue her expedition to reach Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh, an official said.
