Nagpur authorities assure of adequate fuel supply amid panic buying at petrol pumps

Nagpur, Mar 24 (PTI) The administration in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Tuesday quashed rumours of a fuel shortage, assuring citizens that there was ample stock of petrol, diesel and gas in the district, as people thronged at petrol pumps across the city.
The fear of fuel shortage in the backdrop of the US-Israel war on Iran, which has caused a severe global fuel supply chain crisis, triggered panic buying in the district.
People were seen braving the blistering heat and lining up with their vehicles at petrol pumps in Nagpur.
In view of the situation, District Collector Vipin Itankar issued a statement, assuring that there was ample stock of petrol, diesel, and gas in the district, and the administration is monitoring the situation.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule are regularly reviewing the situation, he said, urging citizens not to believe rumours and to purchase according to their requirements.
Citizens need not panic, as there is no crisis in the district, Itankar said, warning of police action against persons spreading rumours and fake news about essential services.
He further said that the Central and state governments have provided clear information regarding petrol, diesel, gas, and other energy sources.
