Kathmandu, May 13 (PTI) Opposition parties in Nepal on Wednesday disrupted the proceedings of the House of Representatives, demanding Prime Minister Balen Shah's presence, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the house till Thursday morning.
The protest intensified as PM Shah failed to appear in the house, where he was expected to respond to questions on his government's policy document presented on Monday.
Shah was scheduled to address the house, but at the last moment, the responsibility was given to Finance Minister Swornim Wagly, sparking protest from the opposition.
Shram Sanskriti Party chief Harka Rai even demanded Prime Minister Shah's resignation.
The Nepali Congress, Rastriya Swatantra Party and Nepali Communist Party have demanded the presence of the Prime Minister in the house.
Speaker D P Aryal assured the opposition parties that he will hold talks with the Prime Minister regarding the matter and adjourned the meeting till 11 am on Thursday.
Congress lawmaker Yogesh Gauchan said that it was surprising that Prime Minister Shah did not speak in the Parliament after being elected the executive head of the country.
