Peshawar, May 11(PTI) At least four people have been killed and 16 others injured after strong winds and rains damaged walls and roofs of houses in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, authorities said on Monday.
According to a report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Monday, the incidents were reported from the districts of Mardan, Swabi, Malakand and Shangla on Sunday.
The deceased included a woman and a child, while the injured comprised a woman and seven children, it said.
The PDMA said district administrations and all relevant departments were on alert and ready to respond to any emergency.
The administrations of the affected districts have been asked to ensure immediate relief to the victims, it added.
According to the PDMA, the ongoing spell of rain and strong winds is expected to continue intermittently until May 12.
The PDMA Emergency Operation Centre remains fully operational, and the public has been advised to report any emergency or seek information through helpline 1700, a spokesperson said.
