British Indian entrepreneur Karishma Vijay wins major investment on UK reality show

London, Apr 17 (PTI) An Indian-origin cosmetics entrepreneur has won 250,000 pounds investment to expand her business as the winner of one of the UK's popular reality series that pitches candidates against each other to bag the coveted prize.
Karishma Vijay, in her 20s, was named the BBC's ‘Apprentice 2026’ after 12 tough weeks of challenges to win Lord Alan Sugar’s backing for her “Kishkin - the Skincare Miracle” business.
In the series finale which aired on Thursday, Vijay beat recruitment consultant Pascha Myhill in a task which saw both candidates develop a brand and advertising campaign for their respective business ideas.
“Nothing in my life will ever compare," said Vijay, after her win.
With her winnings, Vijay plans to pump in money into marketing to create greater brand awareness.
The Surrey-born entrepreneur, the first businesswoman in her family, admitted that “doors will blow wide open” for her after being the chosen one by Lord Sugar – one of the UK’s most well-known entrepreneurs.
After delivering strong business pitches, it all came down to the final boardroom where Pascha and Karishma both made their case directly to Sugar to decide whom he would “fire” and who would be his next business partner.
“Karishma really impressed me throughout the process and has proven why she deserves my investment," said Sugar.
“She’s a proper grafter and she’s got that entrepreneurial spirit that I always look for. The cosmetics industry is one I know a lot about, and I know our partnership will pave the way for a bright future," he said.
Vijay describes herself as a risk-taker who started her business from scratch and has been supporting her family financially.
“My life’s dream is to build my dad a home. Kishkin is not just a business idea, this could change my family's future. I don’t come from money and where I come from girls don’t even step into the realm of business. This isn’t just for me, I’m trying to build a legacy," added Vijay.
She becomes the 20th winner of the long-running BBC series, which has seen its winners and finalists go on to become prominent business leaders across sectors.
