Mines Min Reddy visits Hindustan Zinc's Rajpura Dariba Complex

Udaipur, May 18 (PTI) Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy visited Hindustan Zinc Limited's Rajpura Dariba Complex in Rajsamand district and reviewed its mining, smelting and community development initiatives.
    According to the company, the minister visited the Sindesar Khurd Mine and Dariba Smelting Complex, where he was briefed on technology-driven mining operations, safety systems, paste filling and tele-remote operations.
    The minister also reviewed remote-operated mining equipment and witnessed a demonstration by the company's women mine rescue team, it added.
    Reddy interacted with contract workers, women mining engineers and other employees during the visit and appreciated the company's focus on safety, innovation, workforce diversity and community development.
    At the Dariba Smelting Complex, the minister visited the control room, cell house and cathode yard and reviewed the company's integrated mining-to-metal operations, the statement said.
    Reddy said India's mining sector was evolving into a "modern, responsible and technology-driven growth engine" and stressed the importance of domestic mineral resources and critical mineral value chains for the country's economic growth and manufacturing ambitions under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
    "The minister also reviewed its corporate social responsibility initiatives in Rajasthan, including programmes related to women empowerment, drinking water access, education, healthcare and rural sports development," the company said in a release.
    Hindustan Zinc Limited, a Vedanta Group company, said it has an annual refined metal production capacity of over 1.1 million tonnes and is among the world's largest integrated zinc and silver producers.
