New Delhi, Apr 18 (PTI) State-owned Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) on Saturday said that a contractual employee engaged by a civil contractor died in an incident at its unit in Rajasthan and added that there was no disruption in the operations of its plant.
The company said that it deeply mourns the unfortunate event.
"This is to report an incident at Process Plant of Khetri Copper Complex (a unit of Hindustan Copper Ltd) at District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan on April 17, 2026, in which one contractual employee engaged by a civil contractor met with fatality," HCL said in a filing to BSE.
The company has copper mines and concentrator plants in Malanjkhand copper project in MP, Khetri Copper Complex in Rajasthan and Indian Copper Complex at Ghatsila in Jharkhand.
Hindustan Copper Ltd is targeting a mining capacity of 12.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from the current 4 MTPA by 2030.
Hindustan Copper is a 'Mini-Ratna' Central Public Sector Enterprise company under the administrative control of the Mines Ministry. It operates the country's sole vertically integrated refined copper facility, handling exploration, mining, beneficiation, smelting, refining, and casting operations.
