UP Cabinet clears industrial incentive package approves 22 proposals

Lucknow, Apr 7 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved an industrial incentive package, including capital subsidies, with an aim to boost industrial activity in the state.
     The incentive was approved by the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, according to an official statement issued here.
     The Cabinet cleared 22 proposals and endorsed recommendations of the High-Level Empowered Committee (HLEC) under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy-2022, it said.
     Additional Chief Secretary (Infrastructure and Industrial Development) Alok Kumar said the approvals include the establishment of six new industrial units, clearance of one subsidy claim and modification in one project's LoC (letter of comfort).
     The Cabinet approved the reimbursement of SGST of Rs 589 crore to OFC Tech Pvt Ltd in Shahjahanpur and Rs 1,128 crore to AJI Cane Industries in Hathras.
     It also sanctioned capital subsidies for India Glycols Ltd (Gorakhpur), Viscose International Pvt Ltd (Prayagraj) and Integrated Batteries India Pvt Ltd (Gautam Buddh Nagar), which is expected to reduce project costs and enhance production capacity.
     In Moradabad, Triveni Engineering was granted approval for capital subsidy disbursement, while a proposal to modify the LoC for Awada Electro Ltd's Rs 16,000 crore project in Gautam Buddh Nagar was also cleared.
     The Cabinet also emphasised green energy, approving major investment proposals in solar cell and module manufacturing. These projects are expected to help develop the Yamuna Expressway and Greater Noida regions as green energy hubs and reduce dependence on imports while generating employment.
     In another key decision, the Cabinet approved the final bid document for procurement of 25 lakh tablets under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, with a budget outlay of Rs 2,000 crore for 2025-26. The scheme aims to provide free tablets to students enrolled in higher education, technical courses, skill development programmes and ITIs.
     The Cabinet also approved amendments to grant land ownership rights to families displaced during the India-Pakistan partition in districts such as Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rampur and Bijnor, enabling them to access loans and sell produce legally.
     Additionally, it cleared a proposal to rehabilitate 99 displaced Hindu Bengali families from Meerut to Kanpur Dehat with a nominal lease rent of Re 1.
     The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a Forestry and Horticulture University in Gorakhpur to promote research, biodiversity conservation and modern agricultural practices in the state.
