Elon Musk-led X rolls out XChat beta

X CEO Elon Musk announces new XChat messages with audio-video calls, end-to-end encryption

XChat is a replacement for the X (Formerly Twitter) platform’s traditional Direct Messaging (DM) system

According to Elon Musk, XChat is built on Rust with a whole new architecture and end-to-end encryption

Audio and video calling comes to XChat, with cross-platform support and no need for a phone number, adding to device-agnostic connectivity and user anonymity

XChat will have vanishing messages, which means you can have your message history auto-erased

XChat conversations can also be protected with a four-digit passcode, as an extra layer of security

With XChat, you can now send ‘any kind of file’, says Elon Musk

XChat has rolled out in Beta to testers on Android, iOS, and desktop, with seamless messaging across devices
