iOS 19 or iOS 26? Latest Apple news ahead of WWDC 2025

Ahead of iPhone maker’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025, scheduled between June 9 and June 13, here are some reports already out on media

New Apple operating systems are expected to be identified by year rather than with a version number, Bloomberg reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter

This means the next iOS would not be iOS 19 but “iOS 26”, according to reports. Other OS that are expected to follow are: iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26

Apple is set to announce the shift at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) between June 9 and 13, as per the report

The MacBook maker is also expected to showcase NEW user interfaces across the operating systems for a more cohesive experience between devices.

The new user interface, called “Solarium” internally as per agency reports, will bring tvOS, watchOS and parts of visionOS under the same aesthetics and user operability

Even though the next set of operating systems is expected to launch by September 2025, they will still be named after the succeeding year, 2026. US car makers usually follow this system
