Four days of incessant rainfall have halted regular life in various parts of the city, especially Dadar, Matunga, Sion, Andheri, and Parel.

The IMD has maintained its 48-hour red alert issued on August 18.

The BMC has warned that the combination of heavy rains, high tides, and clogged drains could add to the city's waterlogging woes.

Waterlogging has severely affected various parts of the city, with key junctions in Dadar, Chembur, Kurla and Andheri submerged, bringing traffic to a halt.

The BMC also told schools, colleges, and government offices to remain shut, and advised private firms to let employees work from home.

Western, Central, and Harbour rail lines have been impacted, while the Andheri subway has been submerged. This has stranded commuters at various stations.

The NDRF and SDRF have been placed on alert after at least 10 people died, and high tides indicated the possibility of flooding.
