Future of integrative health care: Ayush's vision for a healthy India

Ayush is committed to reaching every household by making traditional Indian medicine accessible to all, not as a luxury but as a right, writes Minister Prataprao Jadhav

It is important to understand that our goal is not just institutional excellence—our goal is to reach every household. We are working to ensure that traditional systems of medicine become accessible to every Indian, in every village and every district, not as a luxury but as a right.

In the coming years, we are expanding our infrastructure significantly. We have already established national institutes that serve as centres of research, education and clinical innovation, and we are now moving forward with the establishment of three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda. These are not just clinics, but institutions that will shape the future of integrative health care.

At the same time, we are investing in scientific validation. Through our Central research councils, we are building the evidence base that will establish our ancient systems on the most rigorous modern scientific foundations. This is essential to ensure credibility and global acceptance.

We are also strengthening the foundation of ayurveda by promoting our medicinal plant heritage. We are ensuring that raw materials are protected, cultivated and brought into the supply chain in a sustainable manner.

We are introducing Ayush concepts in school curricula, expanding outreach through health fairs, and leveraging digital platforms that bring ayurvedic consultation directly to mobile phones.

Quality remains central to our vision. A single adulterated product or false claim can damage an entire tradition. Therefore, we are prioritising strong quality certification systems to build and maintain public trust.

Globally, we are expanding our footprint through collaborations with over 50 countries and supporting initiatives like the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat. By 2047, we envision Ayush as a major pillar of a developed India—an India that not only heals itself but also guides the world towards holistic health.
