Biographer reveals Donald Trump's 'big thing' to escape Epstein scandal. It’s not Zohran Mamdani

The biographer of US President Donald Trump has claimed that the President is searching for a new “big thing” to distract the country from his alleged links in the Epstein scandal. Journalist-turned-author Michael  Wolff claims that “thing” could very well be Ukraine when Trump meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.

Wolff, who penned the bestseller ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House’ in 2018, told the Daily Beast podcast that Trump was making “relentless” calls to aides and allies to demand something to distract the US from questions over his links to the disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his lover-turned-sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. There are allegations that Trump’s name is in the files related to Epstein, and the clamour for the Trump administration to put documents related to the Epstein investigations before the public has been growing.

Trump, whose earlier distraction plans failed, is now ready to give up Ukraine to Vladimir Putin, Wolff said, stating that the word “big thing” is the code for a distraction.

“Let me go back about a week or so, or 10 days, when Trump started to say to everyone who would listen—and everyone listens to Donald Trump—to staffers and on the phone calls, the relentless phone calls that he’s constantly making, he said, ‘I need a big thing. I need a big thing,” Wolff told Daily Beast.

Before Ukraine, Trump had other plans, the prominent one of which involved New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Trump planned on making him the next MAGA enemy, but it didn’t pan out.

“It didn’t get that traction,“ Wolff said. ”I mean, Epstein still goes on behind everything. Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, that drum beat."

Wolff’s allegations come amid reports that Trump was in touch with Andrew Cuomo, Mamdani’s chief rival.

The President then considered another option: Flood soldiers and federal law enforcement into Washington DC.

According to Wolff, Trump’s plan is to pull the US out of any involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, thereby pleasing the MAGA base, who didn’t appreciate the US’s involvement in the Ukraine-Russia war. “He’s going to sacrifice Ukraine for Epstein,” Wolff said. “Essentially, this is, in his mind, a trade. It is the MAGA people who have pressed this Epstein issue constantly. I mean, they’re the threat,” he said.
