30 people were injured in the early hours of Saturday—at about 2AM—after a vehicle drove into a crowd, as per the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

By about 4:20 AM (local time), 124 fire personnel had been deployed to 4661 (W) Santa Monica Boulevard—the site of the incident.

At least 4 victims are in a critical condition, and at least 8 are seriously injured, while 19 others are said to be "in a fair condition", according to the LAFD.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. Videos posted to social media show the area being cordoned off.

“There was a vehicle that had somebody lose consciousness inside the vehicle. Drove into a taco cart and ultimately ran into a large number of people who were outside of the club,” Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Adam VanGerpen said, as per a New York Post report.

The car, identified as a Nissan Versa, hit the people (most of whom were female) waiting to enter the nightclub.

People inside the club came out to help the injured, just before emergency services arrived on the scene.

“They were all standing in line going into a nightclub. There was a taco cart out there, so they were ... getting some food, waiting to go in. And there’s also a valet line there ... The valet podium was taken out, the taco truck was taken out, and then a large number of people were impacted by the vehicle,” explained VanGerpen, as per an Associated Press report.

“It is still unconfirmed, but we have reports that there was a gunshot wound in one of the patients. There was a patient inside the vehicle. They were able to extricate that patient. That’s still ongoing with the investigation,” he added.

VanGerpen explained that the case is under investigation by the LAPD.
