Indian man missing in New York, community spreads word on Twitter

Bhavik Bhandari, a 29-year-old Indian living in the US has gone missing since June 10. Bhandari, who has been living in New York for the last three years, last spoke to his sister Smriti Bhandari Malik on June 8.

Bhandari was last seen by his roommate, before he stepped out of his apartment in Washington Heights on Thursday, without his phone. Bhandari hasn’t returned since. A missing person report has been filed with the New York Police, who have been investigating the case. 

Bhandari graduated with a master’s degree in strategic design and management from Parsons School of Design in 2020. He is on F-1 visa. His fellow batchmate from Manipal Institute of Technology shared an appeal to amplify the search for Bhandari.

Amitoj Singh, a journalist of Indian origin based in New York tweeted, "Hey New York, Please help find Bhavik Bhandari! He was last seen in Washington heights! Fellow Journalists and everyone can you please amplify!! Reaching out to officials in DC too! @NYPDnews @NYPDChiefOfDept @NYCCouncil @NYGovCuomo @NYCMayor."

The North American Association of Indian Students also tweeted an appeal to amplify the search for Bhandari. Another tweet urging New York authorities to look for Bhandari says that he would volunteer at a yoga and meditation centre in the city.
