Inter Milan are mentally preparing for Alessandro Bastoni's departure and will like to bring in reinforcements as early as January, football news outlets across Europe have claimed. In order to breathe fresh air into their ageing backline, Inter may try to get Nathan Aké in the winter apart from making some ambitious moves for Marc Guéhi and Dayot Upamecano, the reports claimed.
Stefan De Vrij (33), Francesco Acerbi (37), and Matteo Darmian (35) are not the fastest in Italy any longer, and losing Bastoni to Liverpool may further complicate things for the Serie A team, and thus the race against time to secure fresh signings, Italian media reports said. Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are ready to put a triple figure on the table (€100 million) for Alessandro Bastoni, who is contracted until June 2028.

Marc Guéhi's transfer to the Merseyside team fell through in the last minute last summer, and 26-year-old Bastoni has emerged as a frontrunner to sign with the club despite the England international still being tracked, reports said. While Bastoni's countryman Giovanni Leoni, a prized addition to the Reds squad, is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, Ibrahima Konaté is closer to joining Real Madrid than ever before. Thus, considering captain VVD's age, Bastoni and Guéhi can exist together at the club and even become an intimidating pairing.
Due to the lack of backup for Konaté and VVD, it is even possible that Bastoni may reach English shores in January, TeamTalk said in a report — explaining the panic in Milan over finding possible targets. While Bastoni is happy at Inter, being the fourth highest earner among the squad, a right project with key perks could make the deal happen, the report said. If that is the case, then the Italian centre-back, who reportedly earns a salary of €5.5 million annually, is rated among the best of his tribe in the continent and may decide against extending his stay at the Italian capital if he gets to become Virgil Van Dijk's partner at Anfield.
The Nerazzurri signed the tall centre-back from Atalanta in 2017, handing the left-footed player 271 caps to date.
