The football World Cup may be next year, but that need not stop you from booking your tickets early!
FIFA has onboarded global payments platform Visa as its “Official Payment Technology Partner” for the tournament that is scheduled in North America in June-July 2026.
According to an official statement, the organisers—government officials from Canada, Mexico and the United States of America—came together at the Visa FIFA World Cup 2026 Reception in Washington, D.C., to announce the Visa Presale Draw.
“The Visa Presale Draw offers Visa cardholders exclusive early access to enter the draw for tickets, creating an incredible opportunity for some lucky fans to secure their place at this historic event,” said Kim Lawrence, Regional President of North America at Visa.
According to Visa in a statement to Indian media with “New Delhi” in the dateline, fans with a Visa card “including Visa Credit, Visa Debit and reloadable Visa prepaid cards, can apply to enter the Visa Presale Draw” from September 10 to 19.
The draw is “a randomised selection process that gives selected entrants the chance to purchase tickets before general ticket sales open.”
However, there is a catch. “Interested cardholders will need a FIFA ID to participate in the Visa Presale Draw and are encouraged to visit FIFA.com/tickets to create their ID, if they don’t already have one,” stated Visa.
The winners of the draw would be notified via email, “starting no earlier than September 30 and given a dedicated time slot in October to purchase available tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.”
The FIFA World Cup 2026 would have a record-breaking 48 teams, playing 104 matches over 39 days. With 16 cities hosting the event across Canada, Mexico, and the US, it would be the first-ever tri-country hosted games across North America.
