As the transfer window of the English Premier League nears its deadline, teams are frantically trying to wrap up their target deals for the summer. Manchester United are one of those teams that has been struggling to get hold of their targeted signings in this transfer window. The club's recent form in the Premier League and financial decline are the factors that have contributed to this.

However, as a last-ditch attempt, the Red Devils have submitted an official bid for striker Benjamin Sesko on Tuesday (August 5). According to David Ornstein, Manchester United have submitted a proposal of €75m + €10m as add-ons for Sesko. This is obviously a lesser bid than Newcastle United's bid of €90m, but Sesko's interest in going to Old Trafford means that this deal could still work out. It all depends, however, on what Newcastle decide and there could be a closure on the Sesko situation this week.
If United are unable to get hold of Sesko, it would mean a massive dent to their plans for the upcoming Premier League season, given that they prior targets were also picked up eventually by other clubs. If it weren't for Sesko's strong desire to wear the Manchester United shirt, this deal could also have been a foregone conclusion by now. Sesko's camp have already held constructive meetings with representatives of both clubs, and the respective contracts are both expected to be long-term ones for the 22-year-old. RB Leipzig remain tight-lipped for now. Till United's official bid was placed, Newcastle had expected the deal to have been virtually sealed.
Sesko had a prolific 2024-25 Bundesliga season where he tallied 13 goals and five assists from 33 games. The Champions League was also a successful one for Slovenian as he netted four times in four games. His strong aerial prowess and goal-scoring instincts make him a potential future superstar, and at 22, age is on his side.
