India will take on familiar foes Bangladesh in their opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 today in Dubai. The Men in Blue had a great build-up to the prestigious tournament, humbling England 3-0 in the recently-held ODI series at home.

But, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is a different ball game, and India will not be playing in their backyard. As per the hybrid model, India are playing all their matches in Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh are no pushovers, and in the absence of their strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah, Indian bowlers will have to be at their best to rein in the Bangla Tigers.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were back among the runs with a century and a fifty respectively against England, but they will have to be consistent to ease the pressure on the youngsters in the team such as Shubman Gill, who was the player of the series in the England series, and Shreyas Iyer.

Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian team, while Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Bangladesh. While the Indian top-order selects itself, the toss-up will be between Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, with the latter likely to make the cut.

In the bowling department, Arshdeep Singh is likely to partner Shami with the new ball, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya being the third seamer.

There’s a chance that India might rest Ravindra Jadeja in favour of Axar Patel, and decide to give both Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav the nod.

However, if overcast conditions persist, India might be tempted to drop a spinner for pacer Harshit Rana.

India (likely XI):

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy/Harshit Rana.
