IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings unveiled their new jersey for the 2021 season. Interestingly, it’s the first time since the inaugural 2008 edition that the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side has redesigned its jersey.
CSK failed to make the play-offs for the first time in their history, last season, and ended up at seventh position in the eight-team points table.
Unveiled on Wednesday, just weeks ahead of the IPL 2021 which starts on April 9, the new-look jersey features camouflage as a tribute to India’s armed forces and three stars atop the franchise’s logo denoting the three IPL titles won in 2010, 2011 and 2018.

CSK had showed their support for the armed forces earlier, too, by presenting a cheque of Rs 2 crore at the start of the 2019 IPL season. Skipper Dhoni is an honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army and has also trained with the Parachute Regiment in 2019 when he was on a sabbatical post India’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in the 50-over World Cup.
The camouflage on the shoulders is bordered with gold bands.
“It has been on our mind for some time now to find ways to raise awareness about the significant and selfless role of the armed forces. The camouflage is an appreciation of their service. They are the true heroes,” CSK CEO K.S. Viswanathan said.
Myntra, The India Cements Limited, who are celebrating the milestone of 75 years, Gulf, Nippon Paint, SNJ and Astral Pipes are among the team’s principal sponsors and their logos feature on the jersey.
Fans can order replica jersey through the CSK app or website.
