Microsoft launches Surface Book 3; all details here

The starting price point for the Surface Book 3 laptop is $1,599

Tech giant Microsoft has launched the Surface Book 3, successor to the Surface Book 2. It has also launched Surface Go 2 tablet, Surface Headphones 2, Surface Earbuds, Surface Dock 2, and USB-C Travel Hub. Taking advantage of the lockdown situation, which has people working from home, the company is emphasising that its hardware is designed to show off the capabilities of Windows 10 and allow people to work as well as learn, communicate, and enjoy entertainment.

The starting price point for the Microsoft Surface Book 3 detachable 2-in-1 is $1,599 and is said to deliver up to 50 per cent better performance than previous models. The laptop will be available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch versions. The 13-inch display model offers a pixel resolution of 3000x.You can also choose between a discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX or Quadro RTX GPU for gaming or professional content creation.

Other features include two USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port, two Surface Connect ports, an SDXC card slot, 5-megapixel front and 8-megapixel rear cameras, far-field stereo microphones, and a fully backlit keyboard. Both size models come with Intel's 10th Gen 'Ice Lake' Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

The 13.5-inch model weighs up to 1.64kg while the 15-inch version weighs 1.9kg, and, the 15-inch model offers up to 17 hours of battery life. Microsoft Surface Go 2 offers the same 10.5-inch 3:2 1920x1280-pixel screen as its predecessor. The starting price point for the gadget is $399.99, which comes with an Intel Pentium Gold processor. The base model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. The top-end model promises improved battery life and up to 64 per cent faster performance with an 8th Gen Intel Core M processor. The high-end model has 8GB of RAM with a 128GB SSD with the higher-end CPU, or one can choose one with integrated LTE.
