The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday released the first official footage of what it claimed to be airstrikes on "hundreds of targets" in Iran.

If the video is to be believed, the impact of the coordinated operation with the US, titled Roaring Lion, can be seen in the grainy, 15-second video, offering visuals of blasts in hilly regions.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's residence is one of the latest sites damaged in a barrage of airstrikes by the US and Israel that has plunged the Middle East in disarray.

This comes as the location of Khamenei, one of the major targets of the airstrikes that aim to bring a change in Iran's top brass and aid the anti-regime efforts in the country, is currently unknown.

Satellite images from aviation giant Airbus show thick plumes of smoke billowing from the compound used as his Khamenei's official residence, as per a New York Times report. Several destroyed buildings can also clearly be seen.

The report added that several military sites, missile production facilities, and areas in the vicinity of his residence were also targeted.

At least 40 people have already died and 45 more were injured in Iran after one of the strikes even hit a girls’ elementary school in Minab in the southern Hormozgan province. Reports speculate the target may have been an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) base located in Minab.

Meanwhile, Iran has vowed to retaliate fiercely against the attacks on its soil, as a part of which it has already launched airstrikes on US-linked Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al-Dhafra Air Base in the UAE, and the US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, explosions were reported in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh as well, an AFP report said. Jordan said at least two ballistic missiles had been shot down by its air defence system after they entered its airspace.
