Global Future Councils to AI centre: How UAE's Davos 2026 deals will pave way for a future-ready economy

The UAE has left its mark at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland during its 56th Annual Meeting from January 19 to 23.

The UAE delegation was led by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. It was the fifth-largest delegation at WEF 2026, with over 100 participants, including senior government officials and company heads, attending the event.

Global Future Councils

The UAE and the World Economic Forum signed memorandum of understanding to host the annual meetings of the Global Future Councils in Dubai for the next five years, marking a new phase in their strategic knowledge partnership. The insights from the Councils deliberations in Dubai will be later reflected in the official agenda of the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos.

UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi said the partnership with WEF reflects Abu Dhabi's vision of "forging effective global partnerships rooted in action and positive impact." He said the councils provide an advanced model for transforming global challenges into development opportunities and reinforcing the UAE’s role as a hub for shaping future solutions.

TradeTech Report

The UAE released the third edition of the TradeTech Report, which list the advancement in technologies used in global supply chains. The report was first launched in 2023 in an agreement signed by the UAE foreign trade ministry, Abu Dhabi economic development department and WEF.

Abu Dhabi AI centre

Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence inked a deal with WEF to set up the Abu Centre for the Future of Artificial Intelligence.

Advanced tech centre in Abu Dhabi

The Technology Innovation Institute announced the launch of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Advanced Technologies in partnership with WEF. It will focus on Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.
