Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) recently rolled out a fresh series of job notifications for filling more than 340 openings, from skilled vocational trainees to retired defence personnel.
CSL has invited candidates for 300 apprenticeship seats for ITI and vocational certificate holders. Young tradespeople can opt for one-year practical training spanning roles such as Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Electronic Mechanic, Painter, Sheet Metal Worker, Pipe Fitter, Marine Fitter and more, plus specific vocational disciplines like Accounting, Nursing, Office Operations and Electrical Technology.
The stipend is pegged at ₹11,000 per month. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, meet educational criteria, and be domiciled in Kerala. Selection will be strictly on merit, and the last date to apply is November 15, 2025. CSL stressed in the notification that the training carries no promise of later employment at CSL.
For ex-Indian Navy professionals, CSL is offering six contract-based Commissioning Engineer roles covering Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics disciplines.
Open to those with a diploma in the relevant field and a minimum of ten years’ marine equipment experience, these posts pay an initial monthly salary of Rs 50,000. The contract runs for three years with possible extensions, but doesn’t guarantee permanent placement. Applicants are required to pay a Rs 300 fee (exempt for SC/ST candidates). Last date to apply is November 12, 2025.
CSL is also recruiting contract-based Operators—24 Forklift/Aerial Work Platform operators and 3 Diesel Crane operators.
These posts are open to candidates who have completed class VII, hold a valid heavy vehicle or forklift license, and possess at least one year of experience on the job.
Ex-servicemen and CAPF retirees receive preference, with age relaxations allowing employment up to 60 years.
Successful candidates will get Rs 27,000 per month, with extra pay for overtime, and will be chosen based on a practical test. Here, the application fee is Rs 200 for general candidates. Last date to apply is November 21, 2025.
