Complaint filed against Mumbai woman who confronted Maharashtra BJP minister over traffic jam during rally

A woman has filed a complaint against the Mumbai woman who confronted Maharashtra BJP minister Girish Mahajan over the traffic disruption caused during a rally held over the women's reservation bill

A complaint has been filed against the Mumbai woman who loudly confronted and shouted at the Maharashtra BJP minister Girish Mahajan during a party rally over the woman’s reservation bill, Police said on Friday.

The complaint application filed by a woman, Zen Sadavarte, daughter of advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, alleged that the Mumbai woman created a disturbance during the incident.

The senior officer said that the application was filed on Thursday evening at around 7 pm or 7:30 pm.

The Mumbai woman went viral on Tuesday after she loudly confronted the BJP rally and minister Mahajan for disrupting traffic. She was reportedly on her way to pick up her child from school. She had also asked the rally to move their protests to the open grounds nearby.

Sadavarte, in her complaint, has now alleged that the woman created a disturbance and used abusive language. She alleged that the woman also obstructed the rally and caused public inconvenience.

She has sought action against the woman under sections relating to obstructing public servants on dut , assault, criminal force and public mischief which are Sections 221, 132, 352, 195, 353, and 224 of BNS.

Sadarvante reported that the behaviour of the woman was an “insult to public representatives and constitutional mechanisms.” She also said that police action was necessary.

However, the minister, Girish Mahajan, said that the woman’s anger was partly justified, but her language was inappropriate. He also ruled out any legal action against her.

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, who is also from the BJP, said that they regret the inconvenience caused to commuters due to the rally.

A separate case was registered against the rally organisers for an alleged violation of norms.
