Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to the people of West Bengal ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, asserting that the future of the state will be decided by the voters’ choice. The letter, being circulated by party workers across the state, outlines Modi's vision for making West Bengal a prosperous and developed state.
"In just a few months, the fate of West Bengal will be decided. The future of the coming generation and the direction it takes will depend on your well-thought-out decision," the Prime Minister wrote.
"Today, every young person, elder, and woman who dreams of a 'Sonar Bangla' is in great pain. Their suffering pains my heart. Therefore, I have made a resolution from the depths of my heart – to make West Bengal 'Viksit' (developed) and prosperous," he said.
Modi highlighted that his government at the Centre has focused on public welfare over the past 11 years, with tangible results. "From the welfare of farmers to fulfilling the dreams of youth, from empowering women to reaching every section of society, the positive outcomes of our policies are clearly visible today," he said.
The Prime Minister also accused the state government of hindering the implementation of central schemes but noted that despite this, the benefits have reached the people of West Bengal. "Despite the non-cooperation of the state government, nearly 5 crore people in West Bengal are now connected to the banking system through 'Jan-Dhan Yojana'," he stated.
Modi pointed out that 85 lakh toilets have been constructed in the state over the past 11 years, and loans worth Rs 2.82 lakh crore have been disbursed to small traders and entrepreneurs.
"I have had the privilege of making 56 lakh senior citizens self-reliant in their old age through the 'Atal Pension Yojana'. I feel blessed to have freed mothers and sisters from smoke by providing LPG connections to over 1 crore families through the 'Ujjwala Yojana'," he added.
The Prime Minister also referenced the ‘Kisan Samman Nidhi’ scheme, under which over 52 lakh farmers have received direct financial assistance.
Criticising the condition of the state, Modi blamed six decades of misrule and appeasement politics. "On one hand, youths are forced to migrate to other states due to a lack of employment, and on the other hand, my mothers and sisters in West Bengal do not feel safe today," he said.
Drawing a comparison to the progress in other states, Modi urged the people of West Bengal to join the journey of development. "If I get the opportunity to serve you, every moment of my service will be dedicated to bringing a smile to your face, spreading happiness, and freeing you from corruption and misrule," he said.
