After a staff member from the office of the State Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal was caught red-handed accepting a bribe at the Mantralaya, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has sealed the minister’s office.
This incident has brought disrepute to the BJP-led Mahayuti government. To ensure a fair and impartial investigation into the bribery case, Minister Narhari Zirwal must immediately resign from his post, demanded Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshvardhan Sapkal.
Speaking about corruption at the Mantralaya, Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal said that during the Congress government’s tenure, the name of the state government headquarters was changed from “Secretariat” to “Mantralaya” to make governance more people-centric and to help citizens feel that the government belonged to them. However, the highly corrupt BJP Mahayuti government has turned Mantralaya into a “corruption hub.”
It has emerged that the clerk from Zirwal’s office allegedly told Anti-Corruption Bureau officials that he accepted the bribe on the instructions of his superiors. Therefore, a thorough investigation must be conducted not only into Minister Narhari Zirwal but also into the senior officials in his office.
Minister Narhari Zirwal has stated that he will resign if any connection is found. However, Sapkal said he should immediately resign to ensure a fair investigation as it has come to light that bribery was openly taking place in his office.
