AAP leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead in Punjab's Jalandhar on Friday morning. According to preliminary findings, multiple shots were fired at him by unidentified bike-borne attackers outside a Gurdwara in Model Town.
Five bullets struck him while he was in his car. He was rushed immediately to a private hospital for treatment and was declared dead after succumbing to his injuries.
Oberoi was inside his parked car outside the gurdwara after returning from prayer, when the attackers approached on a bike and fired around 8-10 shots at him.
A police team was dispatched to the location as soon as information was received. Further investigation into the shooting is underway.

The motive behind the killing is unknown. On Januray 4, AAP leader and village sarpanch Jarmal Singh was shot dead in Amritsar.
Oberoi’s wife had previously contested the municipal election as an AAP candidate but was unsuccessful.
Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, too, to X to say, "Law and order in Punjab has collapsed under @BhagwantMann’s watch. The shocking daylight murder of @AAPPunjab leader Lucky Oberoi outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar exposes the grim reality: if even ruling party leaders aren’t safe, what hope remains for ordinary citizens?"
He alleged that Punjab was gripped by fear and gang violence under the current adminstration.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also took to X to say that law and order was in complete collapse in Punjab after the shooting.
