In a shocking incident of honour killing, a 27-year-old Muslim man and his 22-year-old Hindu girlfriend were brutally murdered and buried in a shallow grave at Umri Sabzipur in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district. According to reports, the brutal act was carried out by the girl’s brothers, who were opposed to their relationship.
Police identified the youth as Arman, who worked in Saudi Arabia, before relocating to Moradabad a few months ago. It is said that he met and fell in love with Kajal Saini around this time. Kajal’s brothers did not approve of their interfaith relationship and repeatedly pressured her to end it.
About three days ago, Armaan suddenly disappeared. Armaan's father, Hanif, filed a missing persons report at the police station. When the police began investigating, they discovered that Kajal was also missing from home, after which suspicion fell on her brothers.
During police interrogation, Kajal's brothers confessed to the crime. The accused said they took the couple to a secluded area, bound and gagged them, before taking their lives. After the murders, their bodies were buried.
Following their confession, the police exhumed their bodies. Police confirmed that the couple was killed by Kajal’s three brothers. He added that the murder was committed using a spade, and the weapon has been recovered.
There were speculations that tensions prevailed in the area. Additional police forces were rushed to Umri Sabzipur as the bodies were sent for post-mortem after inquest proceedings. “At present, there is no problem. The situation is completely under control,” said Satpal.
