Pune police are searching for a domestic help from Nepal, suspected of robbing the home of former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar's parents. Several household members were found unconscious after being allegedly drugged

Pune police are currently on the lookout for a domestic help who worked for former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar’s parents after they allegedly carried out a heist and stole valuables from their home. Multiple members of the household were found unconscious when police arrived on the scene.

Khedkar contacted the police Saturday night to report the incident, which took place at the family’s bungalow in the National Housing Society area of Aundh Baner road.

According to Chaturshringi police officials, the Khedkar family has hired several domestic helpers.

One of them, a person who arrived from Nepal just eight days ago, is the prime suspect.

Sources said that intruders managed to break into the residence and ransack the premises at around 1:30 am on January 11.

When police arrived, Puja Khedkar and her two brothers, Vinay and Harshad Budhwant, were present on the scene.

The thieves reportedly stole jewellery stored in the cupboards. The exact values of the items stolen have not been determined. Cupboards were ransacked, and belongings were thrown around.

Preliminary reports from officials suggest that Khedkar's parents and the security guard Jitendra Singh were physically assaulted by the burglars to the point where they lost consciousness. Singh was found unconscious in the parking lot. The victims are reportedly stable. Khedkars’ driver Dadasaheb Dhakane was found unconscious in a room on the ground floor, and Sujit Roy, the cook, was found in a separate room also unconscious.

Khedkars told police that the domestic help gave sedatives to her parents, Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, which rendered them unconscious.

Police have begun their preliminary inquiries and are awaiting a formal complaint from the family to file a case.

Puja Khedkar stated that she would file the complaint after her parents' health conditions were stable.

Further investigations are underway to determine the exact sequence of events.
