An elderly couple was found strangled to death in what is suspected to be a double murder in Delhi’s Shahdara at 12:30 am on Sunday.
Police said they found the bodies in separate rooms. The incident took place at their home in Ram Nagar Extension, Shahdara.
Officials arrived at the location after the couple's son, Vaibahav Bansal, made a PCR call after midnight to report that his parents, Kumar Bansal, 75, and Pravesh Bansal, 65, were lying unconscious in their house. Officials from the Mansarovar station who arrived at the scene found that both victims were dead at the scene. The rooms were located on the third floor of the house.
Kumar was a retired teacher, and Pravesh was a homemaker.
Investigators found injury marks on the victim's face, suggesting the possibility of murder. A forensic team has been dispatched to collect further evidence, and the bodies have been sent to the mortuary.
Police say the possibility of murder cannot be ruled out. The case is also being proven from the angle of an attempted robbery.
CCTV footage recovered from the area is currently being analysed. Family members of the deceased are also being questioned.
