After a high-intensity blast rocked Delhi on Monday evening, witnesses recounted the horror. At least eight people died, according to official reports.
A shopkeeper told ANI that he felt her was going to die. "I never heard such a loud explosion ever in my life. I fell three times due to the explosion. It felt as if we were all going to die," he said.
At least seven others who were injured in the blast were brought to Lok Nayak Hospital.
Another witness told the new agency, "When we saw someone's hand on the road, we were absolutely shocked. I can't explain it in words."
Eyewitnesses said the blast was so powerful that the nearby streetlights were shattered. One of the cars were thrown as far as 150 metres away.
At least five to six vehicles were blown apart in total. The blast reportedly occurred inside an Eco van, which the police are examining. Forensic and technical teams have also arrived at the spot.
NIA and National Security Guard (NSG) teams have arrived at the blast site. The Delhi Police have beefed up security checks across the city. They are also carrying out nakabandi and random checks in the capital city.
This comes after about 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate and a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from a Kashmiri doctor's rented home in Haryana's Faridabad.
Police have enhanced surveillance at all border points connecting Delhi with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Security has been stepped up in sensitive zones such as railway stations, and metro premises.
