Amid speculations about the leadership change in Karnataka and talks of a possible cabinet reshuffle, former Congress MP D.K. Suresh expressed his desire to see his brother, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, as the future chief minister of the state.
For quite some time, there have been speculations about a leadership change in the Karnataka government. Even as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that if the high command decides, he will continue as CM for five years, Suresh was asked about the political future of his brother.
According to a Kannada Prabha report, the Congress leader said, "If it is written on his forehead that he will become CM, it will happen; otherwise it will not."
He said he would like to see his brother as the chief minister.
Suresh, however, clarified that no efforts are being made in this regard and added that Shivakumar, who is the state president of the party and the deputy CM, will abide by the party decision.
Even as the state government is set to complete half of its five-year term in November, there are talks of a ‘November Revolution’, fuelled by the opposition BJP. However, Shivakumar had downplayed talks of a leadership change, saying the party leadership will act as per the directions of the CM.
Meanwhile, Congress MLC Yathindra, son of Siddaramaiah, had claimed that his father continuing as the CM is inevitable for the state, and added that the majority of Congress MLAs share the same opinion.
