Dramatic scenes unfurled after the Samajwadi Party (SP) expelled its MLA, Pooja Pal, for anti-party activities and indiscipline.

This comes after the MLA thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for addressing her long-pending grievances and for his "zero tolerance" policy against crime, citing action against mafia elements like Atiq Ahmed, during the special 24-hour session on the state's 'Vision 2047'.

The official notice stated that, despite being warned, her actions had caused significant damage to the party. Due to this, she has been expelled from the party with immediate effect and removed from all other posts within the party.

What did Pooja Pal mention in the state assembly?

“Everyone knows who murdered my husband. The Chief Minister heard me when no one else did. His zero-tolerance policy led to the killing of criminals like Atiq Ahmed. Today, the entire state looks at him with trust," Hindustan Times quoted her statement.

Pal is the window of slain BSP legislator Raju Pal, who was killed in 2005.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Pallavi Patel said that while the Vision 2047 initiative was a good start, a 24-hour discussion was insufficient to determine the future of the state. She argued that all the MLAs should have the chance to speak, and criticised the government's claims on law and order, alleging that criminals' morale was higher than ever.
