Sanjay Nirupam alleges role of Mumbai-based celebrity drug racket in Disha Salian's death

The Shiv Sena leader says Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray has played a major role in the case

Disha Salian

A Mumbai-based celebrity drug racket was behind the “murder” of celebrity manager Disha Salian, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam alleged on Wednesday.

Nirupam said the new allegations made by Disha’s father Satish Salian were serious in nature and an FIR would be registered on his complaint soon at Malvani police station.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Nirupam also took potshots at Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, saying he had played a major role in the Disha death case.

“A case will be registered against Aditya Thackeray soon and he will be known as ‘Murderer Thackeray’,” said Nirupam.

The Shiv Sena leader claimed that Disha’s father Satish Salian, in his complaint to Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, had made serious allegations against Aditya Thackeray.

The complaint has been forwarded to Malvani Police Station for filing an FIR, he said.

Disha, who was the manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020 after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. The state government has formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the case.

Nirupam said Disha’s death was suspicious since all the accused were present at the party held at her house on that day.

“Satish Salian has alleged that Disha was gang-raped and murdered. Disha Salian's autopsy report was received three days late. Her body was found 25 feet away from the building. There were no injuries on her body and her body was found naked. All these things are suspicious and need to be thoroughly investigated,” said Nirupam.

Nirupam dismissed Aditya Thackeray's allegation that the government was politicising the case to take revenge on the opposition parties. He further said that Aditya Thackeray submitted a false affidavit in the Supreme Court that the CBI had given him a clean chit.

“The CBI had investigated not the Disha Salian case, but the death of Sushant Singh. Action will also be taken on Aditya's false affidavit,” said Nirupam.

Nirupam further alleged the role of a drug racket in the case, saying one Sameer Khan, who had allegedly supplied drugs to the accused, had admitted this to the Narcotics Bureau.

“Sameer Khan had said during the interrogation that Aditya Thackeray takes drugs,” Nirupam said.

He further emphasised that the state government and Mumbai Police are committed to providing justice to Disha Salian's family.

Alleging that the Sena (UBT) group deliberately made Kunal Kamra's controversial song viral when the public discourse on Disha case increased, The Shiv Sena leader said action would be taken against the stand-up comedian for defaming Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
