The Madhya Pradesh Police suspended a head constable after videos showed him brutally assaulting two tied-up youngsters with a pipe.

Confirming the action against the personnel on Monday, Madhya Pradesh Police reportedly said that the week-old video was shot at Desli village of Betul district. The two youths seen beaten up by the cop were accused of phone theft during a fair, news reports said.

The brutal video showed the two victims being beaten by head constable Kamta Prasad Keer using a plastic pipe. They were tied with ropes as some people, including minors, stood nearby watching, the video showed. A man in civilian clothing was seen holding the rope used to tie up the duo.

Kamta Prasad Keer, attached to the Damjipura police post, was suspended after Betul superintendent of police took cognisance of the video that went viral on social media on Sunday, news agency PTI said in a report. A departmental probe is in progress, the report added.
