An activist of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) was stabbed to death following a clash between rival groups at the Government Engineering College in Idukki, Kerala, on Monday.
The SFI is the students' wing of the CPI(M). Onmanorama reported the violence occurred during elections to the college union.
“The deceased has been identified as Dheeraj Rajendran from Kannur. Two other students Abhijith and Amal, who were critically injured, have been admitted to the hospital,” Onmanorama reported.

The SFI blamed the Kerala Students Union (KSU), the students’ wing of the Congress, and members of the Youth Congress for the violence.
V.P. Sanu, the president of the SFI, held the two Congress-linked outfits responsible. He tweeted, “Comrade Dheeraj, SFI activist in Government Engineering College, Idukki, is brutally stabbed to death by Kerala Students' Union and Youth Congress goons. Rise in Rage!”
