Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused the opposition of not being on the same page with the government over India's vaccination programme even as the country was being hailed by people across the world for the same.

"While lauding the commendable work of vaccination done in India we also remember how the opposition parties had raised many questions on vaccination carried by the government from the very beginning," the FM said after the national executive meeting of the BJP on Sunday. The "great methodical way" in which over 100 crore vaccination was administered in the country won global praise, Sitharaman claimed.

She further said the saffron party will stand by the victims of political violence in West Bengal and support every BJP worker.

According to news agency ANI, citing the achievements of the BJP-led government, she said terrorism-related violence have been reduced in Jammu and Kashmir. "The political resolution says that in terrorism related incidents between 2004-14, 2081 died in Jammu and Kashmir. While from 2014 to Sep 2021, 239 civilians died. J&K is moving towards developmental works."

She said the party discussed India's vaccination achievement, climate change initiatives, 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme and how the youth are now employment generators, during the meeting.

The BJP's national executive meeting, which should be normally held once in three months according to the party's constitution, was being held for the first time since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. The party's national office-bearers, national executive members from the national capital and Union ministers were physically present in the meeting, while the chief ministers of states where the party is in power and national executive members from these states virtually attended the meeting.
