The Rama Janmabhoomi movement was a long saga of supreme sacrifices and martyrdom, said Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Wednesday, adding that it was BJP's strong resolve to build a magnificent temple in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama. He expressed happiness over Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone for the temple in Ayodhya.
"From being a #KarSevak in the Dec,92 #Ramajanmabhoomi movement to living the moment witnessing foundation being laid for a grand Sri Rama mandira at #Ayodhya by our PM @narendramodi , it's a dream come true for me," tweeted Yediyurappa. The CM also shared a few photographs of his participation in the event in December 1992.
Yediyurappa, who is recuperating in a hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, cautioned people against coronavirus and appealed to them to celebrate the occasion of the foundation laying ceremony of the Ram Mandir at home.
"India is a country known for its religious fervour. Devotion, faith and culture are our collective identity. The bhoomi pujan at Ayodhya is a momentous occasion for the devout. But I appeal to each one to exercise caution owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and celebrate the occasion by lighting lamps and performing puja at home," said Yediyurappa.
