Former PM Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Sunday night after he complained of chest pain. 

The 87-year-old senior Congress leader was admitted to the hospital at 8.40 pm and has been kept under observation at cardio-thoracic ward.

According to PTI, Singh was admitted under Dr Nitish Naik, a professor of cardiology. The former PM had undergone a successful bypass surgery in January 2009 at AIIMS.

Singh was the prime minister of India between 2004 and 2014. Currently he represents Rajasthan in the Upper House of Parliament.

Singh was present in a recent meeting of the Congress chief ministers with party president Sonia Gandhi, held through video conferencing. Speaking at the meeting, Singh had questioned the Narendra Modi government over its strategy on the COVID-19 induced lockdown.
