BJP pulls out of PDP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pulled out of its alliance with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The decision was made during the meeting called by BJP President Amit Shah with Jammu and Kashmir's BJP ministers in New Delhi on Tuesday. 

The move, it is learned, arouse after differences between the BJP and the PDP cropped over the Centre's decision to withdraw the unilateral suspension of security operations against militants during the holy month of Ramadan. The PDP had indicated that it wanted the the suspension to continue for dialogue with separatists to resume, exposing unease with its coalition partner. However, the BJP-led government at the Centre did not favour the move following an increase in miliatant activities in Jammu and Kashmir. 

Reports suggest that terrorist activities almost doubled during the last one month during which security operations were suspended in Jammu and Kashmir. The Centre remained adamant on their decision to resume operations following the murders of Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari who was shot outside his office in Srinagar and soldier Aurangazabed who was kidnapped before being murdered.
